Fulham boss denies Cardiff clash is a ‘six-pointer’
Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanoivc has played down the significance of Saturday’s match with Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Sky Sports write that Jokanovic brings his side to Wales with just five points to their name from the first eight rounds of Premier League fixtures.
He may see this weekend’s fixture as a chance to kickstart their season, with Cardiff also languishing at the bottom of the table.
The Bluebirds are rock bottom with a meagre two points against their name and have scored just four goals in the process.
Neil Warnock’s men’s last point came against Huddersfield Town on August 25, meaning the club have gone five matches without a point.
However, despite the fact that a win could be crucial in either side’s effort to beat the drop, Jovanovic has stressed that the result will not decide his players’ season.
He said:
After this game, there are 29 more, and independent of the result on Saturday, the end of the game is not the end of the Premier League for us. It’s a long period ahead of us and there will be more tough afternoons after this game independent of the result.
If we lose the game it’s the same, there are another 29 games. It’s not the last game for us, it’s not the last game for Cardiff. We must be focused and ready for the game, not only the Cardiff game, all games in the Premier League are important to try and win the points. This trip is not close to the end, this season will finish in the middle of May and many different things will happen.
