Nantes striker Emiliano Sala has today been at the Cardiff City Stadium ahead of a club record £18m deal.
That’s according to Skysports, who write that Sala has told his current club he wants to leave and make a switch to the Premier League.
The 28-year-old has scored an impressive 12 goals in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this term, having joined the club from Bordeaux for just €1m in 2015.
Cardiff have struggled for goals this season, finding the back of the net just 19 times in their 22 top-flight matches to date.
Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock has previously spoken of his frustration at not being able to add to his squad since the transfer window opened at the beginning of January.
Sala, Warnock, chief executive Ken Choo and agents representing all parties were present at the meeting, which Skysports understand went positively.
Should the deal go through, Warnock will be hoping the Argentine can hit the ground running as they battle to stay in the top flight.
Makeshift forward Callum Paterson is the club’s top scorer this term with four goals to his name.
