Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has made a personal donation of £50,000 to the fund hoped to aid the search of missing pilot David Ibbotson.
The Daily Mirror report that Ibbotson was the only other person on board the aircraft carrying Bluebirds striker Emiliano Sala to Britain when it crashed into the English Channel last month.
Sala’s body was recovered from the wreckage on February 4, thanks to a private search that was funded by members of the public.
The official search for the Piper Malibu single propeller aeroplane was called off after just four days.
Tan, who has owned the Welsh club since 2010, made the donation in two separate instalments to a GoFundMe page set up by the Englishman’s family.
Over the weekend, France star Kylian Mbappe gave £27,000 to the campaign, which has now reached £225,000 of its £300,000 target thanks to the backing of over 10,000 people.
Ibbotson’s family say they are ‘desperate’ to lay him to rest and are hopeful that the potential search will give them the closure they need.
