Gunnnarsson wary of ‘strong’ Everton despite dip in form
Cardiff City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson says tonight’s opponents Everton will provide a ‘tough game’, despite not being in the best of form as of late.
In an interview with the club website, Gunnarsson was keen to stress the need to keep switched on if they are to pick up a result at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The Toffees go into the match on a three-game losing streak, including a 1-0 loss to Watford, who comfortably disposed of the Bluebirds on Friday night, last time out.
However, that Hornets loss for Marco Silva’s men was on February 9, meaning the Blues could be slightly ring-rusty when they take to the pitch in South Wales tonight.
Gunnarsson has 18 Premier League appearances to his name this season, scoring once and providing an assist in the process.
The 29-year-old, who is now in his eighth season with the club, is out of contract in the summer and it remains to be seen whether he will be offered a new deal.
On tonight’s match, the Iceland international said:
We’re coming into a difficult game against a strong Everton team, who you always know have quality, even if they haven’t been playing their best football of late. We do know what they’re capable of. Playing them away from home was one of the most difficult games we’ve played this season – even though it was only 1-0.
